Just A Little Advice...

Hi everyone! I often receive emails from writers who are interested in self-publishing and have questions or concerns - particularly on copyright issues. It's always a pleasure to hear from other writes and avid readers, and I always aim to answer those emails as best I can. This is why I felt it necessary to write this particular post and to create awareness.

Thanks to a fan of Feral Sins, I recently discovered that someone had copied my work on an e-book community for writers and publishers to share their work. As you can imagine and understand, it was a very upsetting situation. There is a difference between FanFiction and copying someone's work, and this situation was certainly the latter.

After receiving notification of this by both myself and my publisher, the website instantly removed the copied text and apologized for the inconvenience caused - of course I would never blame the website; they're not responsible for what other people post and they trust their members to follow their terms of service. However, I felt I had to make this post to make other self-published authors or aspiring authors aware of this type of thing. I would never have thought to check any such websites for infringements, and had someone not found it, I would most likely never have known. It may be worth some of you checking for any infringements on your own work on such websites, just to be sure. Us writers should look one out for another.

I haven't named the infringer as although I'm upset and can be a bitch from time to time, I'm not bitter and cruel. I have a feeling that being contacted over this and having the text removed was shocking enough for them - after all, they clearly thought they would get away with it or never would have done it. Hopefully this discourages them from doing it in the future.

Thank you once again to the fan of Feral Sins who discovered the copyright infringement and contacted me about it. I'm your devoted friend for life...but not in a creepy way.

On a lighter note: I've finished the third book in the Phoenix Pack series. Unfortunately, it still won't be released until next year as publishing can be a long process, but it's done and I can now move on to the third book of the Deep In Your Veins series.

Take care everyone!

Just To Let You All Know...

Hi everyone,

For the next two weeks, I won't be able to answer e-mails or inquiries as I'll be in Florida on a family holiday  - yay! I feel it's not fair to my family if I spend my time working, e-mailing, blogging, or tweeting. Besides, if I'm honest, I'll be surviving on adrenalin after going on all the Disney rides. If you do get in touch during that time, I will get around to responding, but it will be a little while. I'll be busy going on rides and crisping in the sun as, sadly, I never tan. I just burn, peel, and go back to being freakishly pale. It's so not fair. What's worse is that whereas some people suit having milk-bottle-white skin, I don't. I just look ill. How special. If there's a secret to tanning, please tell me what it is. My hub says it's sex. Typical.

You know, considering my son's going on holiday tomorrow, you would think he'd be in a fabulous mood. He was a grumpy bugger this morning. I said to him - dozy though I am, I can impart wisdom on my kids from time to time - that he should try looking at what he has got instead of what he hasn't got; that if he didn't learn to do that, he would walk through life being unhappy. After five or so minutes, he said, "You know what, Mum? You're right. I'm lucky, aren't I? I've got a family that love me. I've got my friends. I've got a house, and I've got lots of toys and DVDs. And best of all, the HMV store near us is staying open!"

Can you believe that? Unreal. Children's priorities can be a little warped, can't they?

Take care everyone! If any of you will be in Florida at the same time, I may see you there. You'll easily recognize me - just look for the small redhead (yes, I dyed my hair ruby-red) who's burnt and blistered and hyped on adrenalin.

Just Want to Say Thanks!

I've had some really amazing comments, tweets, emails, and reviews from people about 'Wicked Cravings' and I just want to say thank you all so much! I wanted to write this post yesterday but then my seven year old son told me he'd written a book and wanted me to read it and asked if we could design a book cover together. Oh he's too sweet, seriously. We had a laugh doing the cover and, God, I wish I had his imagination. Of course he also reminded me he could be a mischievous little sod by trying to tempt his little sister with dog biscuits - she wasn't buying for even a second that they were normal biscuits. In truth, I don't think he truly would have let her eat one, but still...

Anyway, really big thanks to all those people - you know who you are! I haven't stopped smiling for three days. I could give Barbie a run for her money. It's surprising my jaw isn't sore. That didn't sound right, did it...To any filthy minded people out there - like me, yes - it really didn't sound right. Honestly sometimes I think I should just build a house on a gutter because my mind's permanently there.

Also, big thanks to Melannie White for all her help with the blog tour! She's seriously one of the most put-together, organized people I know. I truly envy her for her organizational skills. I'm crap like that. And congratulations again to all the giveaway winners.

I've had some people asking about book three of the Phoenix Pack series. Book three, 'Tremors of Need' will be released in 2014 and centers around Nick and Shaya. I don't have an exact date yet, sorry. If anyone wants to be added to my mailing list so that they're notified when it's due to be released, send me an email at: suzanne_e_wright@live.co.uk

Take care everyone!

To All Bloggers Who Might Be Interested

Hope everyone's well. Some of you have got in touch to ask if I'll be doing a blog tour. Well, one has been organised for 'Wicked Cravings' which, as most of you know, will be released in April. Below is an announcement for the tour with the contact details for the blogger who is hosting it, Melannie - who has been a great help.

If you are a blogger and would be interested in joining the tour please email me with your email/blog name info. NO blog is too big or too small to participate. I’m taking names until the list is full for the tour. So please pass this message on!

So Tired It's Not Even Funny, But Smiling

How can I not be smiling when I've finally got my cover for 'Wicked Cravings'? (see right) Love the new one for 'Feral Sins' too. Can't believe it's only ten more days before it's re-released! Having both of them on paperback will be even better for me. 'Here Be Sexist Vampires' is now available in paperback form in the Createspace store, and 'The Bite That Binds' will soon follow. They'll both also be available on paperback through Amazon very soon. So, yes, I'm smiling like a Barbie Doll. It's kind of annoying me really, but it just won't go.

I've had a lot of requests from people asking if I'll put up another excerpt of Wicked Cravings. So sorry, but I'm not allowed to - if I'm honest, that just makes me want to do it - but what I'll do is put the occasional quote from the book on Twitter (@suz_wright). There's one up now, actually. It's just one of the many feisty interactions between Dante and Jaime. What control freak wouldn't get a little frustrated with an incontrollable woman, and vice versa?

Now I have to go and eat. I'd like to say I'll eat dinner, but I'll probably end up just munching on a bag of Skittles. Judge me if you will.

Take care!

Need Some Advice From My Faithful Readers

I have a tiny dilemma. It turns out that there's another book with the title 'The Bite That Binds' - my sequel to 'Here Be Sexist Vampires'. I always check before giving a book a title, but for whatever reason I hadn't found this other book on any list when I checked.

(Don't worry; I've done a mental 'note to self: check more thoroughly next time'.)

Anyway, although it's not illegal to reuse a title unless it has been trademarked - which this book hasn't - the book also happens to be about vampires. I guess with having 'bite' in the title, it's hardly surprising. It doesn't really affect me, so I thought I'd ask if you, as readers, would find it confusing to find two vampire books with the same title. I could always change it slightly to 'Bites That Bind' or 'A Bite That Binds'...? Any input would be appreciated.

I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who bought TBTB, hope you all enjoyed it. I'm now working on the third instalment of the Phoenix Pack series, 'Tremors of Need', which centres around Shaya and Nick. I can't give any background to the story without leaving spoilers for 'Wicked Cravings' and I'd rather not do that. Not long left until WC is released. In fact, it's just eighteen more days until the re-release of 'Feral Sins'. It had once seemed so long away.

Take care everyone!
